Biography

Carlo Acutis (1991–2006) was an Italian teenager beatified in 2020, often called “the cyber-apostle of the Eucharist.” A normal, cheerful boy who loved computers and programming, Carlo also had an intense love for the Eucharist from a young age. He used his tech skills to catalog Eucharistic miracles worldwide on a website, spreading devotion to the Blessed Sacrament. He famously said “the Eucharist is my highway to Heaven”, highlighting his belief in the importance of frequent Communion. Despite his youth, Carlo lived a life of heroic virtue – attending daily Mass, praying the Rosary, and helping the poor in his community with his own savings. He succumbed to leukemia at age 15, offering his suffering for the pope and the Church. Carlo was beatified by Pope Francis, who held him up as a model for young people in the digital age. His body, which lies in Assisi, has drawn many pilgrims. Carlo’s example teaches that holiness is achievable for teenagers today, integrating modern life and deep faith.
